VALDOSTA, Ga. - South Georgia Medical Center's (SGMC) newest facilities took a giant step toward completion today as Pinnacle Prime Contractors, Inc. (Pinnacle) hosted an event celebrating the progress of the new Medical Office Building (MOB) and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). Onsite at 2409 N. Patterson St., the event highlighted the project's contributions to the community. Financed with public bonds, this multi-million-dollar expansion project will benefit generations of Lowndes County citizens.

Among 200 attendees were Mayor John Fretti, James McGahee, CEO of South Georgia Medical Center, representatives and directors from the Hospital Authority, Valdosta City Council Members and Valdosta County Commissioners. Guests, including SGMC staff, gave their signatures to the final construction beam before it was lifted and secured.

"As we continue to celebrate these construction milestones, the devotion and enthusiasm from community members, crew and partners is simply astounding," said Pinnacle President Tom Hutchinson. "The men and women here today take this job incredibly seriously, and no matter how busy our pace is at work, we enjoy taking time to reflect on how far we've come."

Marking Pinnacle's fifth healthcare project in the Valdosta area, the new facilities will provide a spacious and modern area for increased services and care. The 75,749-square-foot MOB will hold a maximum of 20 office suites as well as a satellite laboratory, retail space and SGMC's Cardiac Rehab facility. The three-story steel structure is estimated for completion within 12 months. At that time, several area physicians' practices plan to relocate to the new state-of the art building.

The single-story, 35,023-square-foot ASC will be a freestanding outpatient surgery center for same-day procedures such as cataract removals and tonsillectomies. SGMC will move four operating rooms and one cystoscopy room from the current location in the Surgical Services department to the new ASC. It is expected to open early summer 2008. Additional parking will be available for 490 vehicles, serving staff and visitors at both new structures.

Since the groundbreaking in late May 2007, Pinnacle has remained on-schedule and within budget at an impressive pace. The team worked with Perkins+Will of Atlanta for structural design. To learn more about Pinnacle and its projects, visit www.PinnaclePrime.com.
